Golf MK7 headlining in black… not silver !

Stefan had a leak from his sunroof so once rectified he was in need of new headlining for his Golf MK7.

Interestingly he went for black and not silver. Our silver stretch suede is very popular in the Golf models as it matches quite closely to the original headliners.

Stefan wanted something different though –

“I have a Golf MK7, and based on my measurements, the headliner requires approximately 2.50 x 1.5 meters, not including the A-pillars. I’m planning to reupholster it in black, using a material similar to Alcantara.”

His measurements were spot on and the same as what we recommend for a Golf headliner, 2.5 metres. The width of the stretch suede is 1.5m.  We advised Stefan to order 3 metres as he also wanted to do is A pillars.

So, the actual piece he ordered was 3m X 1.5m (300 cm X 150 cm)

Once he received the headlining, he wanted some fitting and application advise.

“I just wanted to let you know that I’ve received the material, and it looks great. Do you recommend applying it directly over the old material, or should I clean everything and apply it afterward? The old material is still well-adhered and hasn’t come loose.”

We advise wherever possible to go back to the base headliner board. This will give you the best-looking  finish. Fitting and application will also be easier.

As you can see the black looks really good. Stefan kept his grab hands, B and C pillars silver.

Must say the contrast looks great and very eye catching. He also did a great job of fitting the headlining.

Stefan was happy with the end result.

“The result looks incredible.”
